GENERAL MANAGER

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

The Cleaning Solution (TCS) is a Vancouver-based, socially progressive commercial cleaning company that provides high quality, professional services. TCS was founded in 2004 with two goals: To provide meaningful employment for local residents who live with mental illness and are ready to return to work; and to provide best-of-market, environmentally-friendly commercial cleaning services to Metro Vancouver clients. A growing social enterprise, TCS currently serves over 100 clients and provides full and part-time employment to almost 80 individuals.

The General Manager is the key management leader of TCS. The General Manager is responsible for overseeing the services, administration, programs and strategic & business plan of the organization. Other key duties include sales, marketing, operations, human resources, financials, fundraising and community outreach. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors and oversee four direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operations: Provides senior leadership and accountability for the planning, delivery and evaluation of TCS's operation processes and services. Is responsible and accountable to:
    • Maintain a positive and meaningful work culture
    • Support the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff
    • Ensure short and long term IT planning and execution
    • Prepare financial reporting and cost benefit reports for new services or equipment
    • Provide tools, training and support to direct reports
    • Maintain TCS mission related to employment for people living with mental illness
  2. Sales, Client Relationship Management and Marketing. Responsible and accountable for maintaining a robust sales program which include being responsible and accountable to:
    • Develop and execute a sales and marketing plan for attracting new clients
    • Retain current clients
    • Ensure all contracts provide a profit
    • Facilitate regular reviews of sales plans to identify and promote additional services for existing clients
    • Maintain superior customer service and customer satisfaction levels
  3. Planning, Financial Management and Evaluation: Works with the board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic, business planning and financial management
    • Works with the Board to develop and implement strategic and annual operating plans and budgets
    • Prepares and presents regular financial and business performance and operational reports for the Board and other stakeholders
    • Takes ownership for the business and suggests improvements which will result in increased income and/or reduced costs
    • Develops and manages budgets, monitor expenditures and take corrective action when needed
  4. Community and public relations: Assures the organization and its mission, programs and services are consistently presented in strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders
    • Responsible for the enhancement of TCS's image by being active and visible in the community, and by working closely with other professional, public and private organizations
    • Serves as TCS's primary spokesperson to the organization's constituents, the media and the general public

Qualifications:

  • Managerial experience
  • Proven ability to secure new business and increase revenue
  • Preferred experience in commercial cleaning, janitorial service or property/building maintenance or related skills
  • 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience

Working Conditions

  • The General Manager usually works in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non standard workplaces.
  • The General Manager works a standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekends, and overtime hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representing the organization at public events.

LIGHT DUTY CLEANERS

We are looking for a trained, dedicated and hard-working cleaner to do janitorial work during the early evening at a job site located in Vancouver.

The ideal candidate will be able to perform work duties outlined below and be able to assume responsibilities for lockup and alarming security system.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dusting/damp wiping office equipment & furniture
  • Removing garbage
  • Vacuuming carpets
  • Sweeping/mopping hard surface floors
  • Sanitizing restrooms
  • Spot-cleaning walls, doors, glass and contact points
  • Keeping janitor room clean and tidy

Position Qualifications and Abilities

  • Building Service Worker certificate or relevant work experience
  • WHMIS certificate
  • Must complete criminal background check
  • Good listening and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
  • References required
